The quiet revival of leftfield disco

A new generation is digging back through the strangest end of the dance floor — and the records are getting weirder.

It started, as these things often do, on a private blog and a few Bandcamp pages no one was watching. A small group of producers in Glasgow, Lisbon and Bogotá began sharing edits of records most DJs had long since written off as too slow, too odd or too long. What's emerging now isn't a scene so much as a sensibility — one that prizes mood over momentum and accepts that a good record might not "go" anywhere. A few names to listen for: the Music From Memory family, anything on Internasjonal, the slower end of Public Possession, and the always-reliable reissues coming out of Athens Of The North.
